New Delhi, Delhi Police filed a supplementary charge sheet against the JNU student Sharjil Imam before the magistrate in Saket court on charges of inciting rioting, provocative speeches at Jamia Millia Islamia College.
According to the police, on 13 December 2019, Sharjeel Islam gave inflammatory speeches due to which JNU students took out a march against the Citizenship Amendment Act. During this time, incidents like riot arson and stone pelting came to light. Due to which there was a huge loss of public and private properties. Due to these riots many people including policemen were also injured.
On the basis of the evidence found after investigation, a case was registered against Sharjeel under sections 124A and 153A (sedition and inciting enmity between two communities) against Sharjeel. Let us tell you that even before that the special investigation team which is headed by Rajesh Dev Had filed the first charge sheet and now has filed a supplementary charge sheet. Ibrahim, a lawyer for Sharjeel, says that "all this is nonsense and he (Sharjeel) is being inextricably linked to an Islamic organization".
